CLUB NEWS
NOTE. Our main car park footbridge is out of use. Please be careful on the road to our level crossing
Thanks to all that visited, we hope you had a good day out at our railway. We continue with Sundays as normal. See you there.
Our car park is just after our main level crossing entrance on the left where a foot bridge will lead you to the main station. If you have any questions please speak to one of our members who will only be to pleased to answer
If you haven't visited us before why not pop along and take a ride on our picturesque railway.
We have two garden layouts which operate most running days along with the 5inch gauge railway. All can be viewed from our picnic area accessed from the footbridge or side gate.
Our railway is completely run by volunteers and sometimes a short wait for a train ride can be expected. Thank you.
WELCOME
Wimborne District Society of Model Engineers welcomes you to our website.
We hope you find it informative and easy to use.
We are a group of like-minded model engineers and railway enthusiasts who run a miniature railway as well as many other engineering based activities. Situated on the outskirts of Wimborne, Dorset, we pride ourselves in running a picturesque 5 inch gauge railway and a 16mm gauge garden layout. We are also lucky enough to have a portable track which we occasionally take to various local events during the year. The society has approximately 95 members, 9 of which are juniors under 18. If you have an interest in our hobby, contact us via the relevant page above.
The railway operates between 11am and 4pm on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month from Easter through to Halloween. Please check out our 'Open Days' page for more information. Train rides are completely FREE to all ages, the club operates on a donation only basis. There are several Red Donation Boxes located around the site and we are always very grateful for your support.
When you visit us you can enjoy a train ride of approximately 1/3 mile which takes you on a lovely journey over a level crossing, passed a disused halt, over a bridge and through our wooded area before passing through a tunnel.
We have picnic tables available for you to eat your lunch located next to the 5inch track and garden railway where you can watch the trains pass by. (Sorry we do not sell food or drink on site). You can also look at our fantastic 16mm & Gauge 1 garden railway or just relax and enjoy our lovely peaceful location.
Please see our main menu if you would like more information about our society.
We look forward to seeing you and your families during the year. Do not hesitate to contact the club secretary if you have any unanswered questions.
